Turbidity Curtains: An Environmentally-Friendly Way to Prevent Marine Contamination

Construction projects near bodies of water can cause marine spills and other pollution. Debris, dust and other substances contaminate water and endanger marine life. While prevention is the best cure in this situation, sometimes contamination does occur and it is imperative that it is dealt with efficiently and correctly.

Environmental control products such as spill kits and turbidity curtains are cost effective measures for preventing contamination, and they pose no environmental threat.

What Are Turbidity Curtains?

Turbidity curtains are barriers designed to separate parts of a body of water, preventing turbidity (caused by silt and other contaminants) from spreading. These curtains are used in projects on or near a body of water.

How Do They Contain?

Turbidity curtains have a geofabric skirt which sits in the water. When deployed, it filters out the contaminants, and allows clean water to pass through.

Our curtain is constructed using integrated oil-resistant crumble proof floats encased in a PVC-coated polyester float casing which is longitudinally reinforced with polyester webbing.  A webbing reinforced ballast chain pocket is attached to the bottom of the 270gsm geofabric filter skirt.  Durable and easy to deploy, our range of turbidity curtains combines cost effectiveness and time efficiency; minimal onsite installation time saves your project money.
